LeMarqueChown Energy Trust is a family-owned enterprise based in Cape Town, South Africa that represents the family owned businesses investment aspirations. The Trust focuses on channeling investment into renewable energy as it is our belief that a low carbon future is critical to building a sustainable and more resilient planet for the future. The renewable energy (RE) industry has been growing in leaps and bounds over the last decade, generating new opportunities, and presents an attractive low carbon, and lower risk investment opportunity that will help drive future economic growth and prosperity.

A significant part of what we do is to help encourage and influence decision-makers to make the right decisions for the future of South Africa and in particular for future generations.

The Trust invests in renewable energy projects and has interests in several wind farm projects. It has a significant share in the Genesis Infrastructure and Renewable Energy Group.

LeMarqueChown Energy Trust Investments

Paardekraal West Wind Farm

Perdekraal West Wind farm – This 140MW wind farm is developed by Genesis and currently being prepared for participation in the SA Governments RE IPP Programme. The project lies in the Kappa Valley, part of the Witzenberg Municipality, and close to the Kappa Sub Station. Genesis is working closely with a large, successful IPP to finalise the late-stage development of the project.

Genesis Infrastructure and Renewable Energy Group

Genesis Infrastructure and Renewable Energy Group (GIREG) grew out of the need to channel investment into Genesis’ various renewable Energy endeavours, and coordinate development and investment activities across the various platforms. GIREG owns controlling stakes in Genesis Eco-Energy Developments (the project development arm of the group), TouchPoint Energy (that focuses on the small-scale Embedded Generation and bi-lateral corporate PPA market), Genesis Hexicon (the joint venture with Sweden’s pioneering offshore floating wind energy company) and Genesis Africa.

Genesis Eco-Energy Developments

Develops large utility scale projects renewable energy generation and electricity storage assets. GEED is developing a portfolio of 4500+ MW.

The Genesis Group, established in 2001, is one of South Africa’s pioneering renewable energy development companies. Genesis has a long track record of innovation, leading edge developments and delivery of projects that are successfully operating. With its strong management team, Genesis continues to pioneer new initiatives such as its relationship with Hexicon of Sweden into offshore wind development.
